I am a hard no on Project Blue and will not support the requested annexation. Valid and vocal concerns have been raised about large water usage, large energy consumption, and the negative impacts to air quality. Concerns that have been well documented across the country in places where data centers were built and are now causing problems.

I think we can do better, and I don't think passing on this project means our economic future will be harmed (nothing could harm our economy more than mismanaging our water and energy resources). I'm sure I'll hear otherwise—billions of dollars, joining the evolution of artificial intelligence, investments that actually improve our water and energy future... I just don't buy it.

I applaud their efforts of releasing some information and specifics about the project. Despite this new information, I still retain the same amount of skepticism that I've had before. I'm not comfortable with all the cloak and dagger stuff that preceded this process. Therefore, I'm still not comfortable moving this project forward.

I oppose Project Blue because it's a short-sighted, high-risk development that threatens our water security and energy future. Without transparency and its recently revealed massive resource demands, it's the wrong choice for Tucson, especially when we should be prioritizing sustainable jobs and long-term water protection.

I oppose Project Blue because Tucson's water, air, and future shouldn't be sacrificed for corporate gain. Our city deserves investments that serve our communities and provide good union jobs without compromising sustainability. That's why my campaign is knocking doors with Tucson DSA and the No Data Center Coalition to fight for public power and a livable future.

I am grounded in the principles of environmental justice, not just for today, but with a responsibility to the next seven generations. As such, I cannot support Project Blue. Our communities deserve leadership that prioritizes long-term sustainability over short-term gain. Project Blue’s potential harms are incompatible with the future that I am committed to building. I believe in centering equity, transparency, environmental responsibility and lasting stewardship in the decision making process.

Given currently available information, I am a no on Project Blue. Without a lot more detail on water and energy usage (and where those resources would come from), direct and indirect air pollution, noise pollution, and the economic benefit it would have for our community long term, I find it very hard to support such a project.

While I recognize the potential benefits it could bring to our community, I am not convinced that those benefits outweigh the potential harm to our environment, our water security, and our future as a desert community.
